Bengaluru Metro (BMRCL) opens tender for indoor ads at 50 metro stations
Expect to earn at least 30-35 Crores from indoor ads says BMRCL chief.
While the BBMP has banned outdoor advertisement in the city, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has opened tender for indoor advertising at 50 metro stations, as reported by the Times of India.
As per the tender document, there is almost 70,000 square feet of space on offer for displaying advertisements with about 5% of it reserved for digital ad campaigns. According to BMRCL officials, the move to float the tender was due to the demand from advertisers to capitalize on the business potential of metro stations.
Indoor ad space includes, but is not limited to, staircases, lifts, escalators, and frisking panels. Should the bidder get approval from the BMRCL, they can also install platform screen doors – to create additional ad space. Anjum Parvez, Managing Director, BMRCL expects the metro corp earn approximately ₹.30-35 Crores through indoor advertising, reports Times of India.
According to Mr. Parvez, metro ridership is at its highest with 6.3 lakh daily passengers, crossing pre-COVID levels, “We have seen a surge of 50,000 (passengers) in the last 15-20 days. If this trends continues, we may earn a profit even in the current financial year”.
