NDMC calls stop on unauthorised shop signages
Market associations have been notified to remove signages in their respective markets that do not comply with the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act 2007
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has sent out notices to market associations operating within its jurisdiction to adhere to the shop signage norms defined in the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act 2007. The civic body has instructed the market associations to remove unauthorised advertisements, self-signages, flexes and hoardings that are in violation of the Delhi Outdoor Advertising Policy, 2017.
The letters have been issued to market associations at Connaught Place, Sarojini Nagar, Khan Market, Khanna Market, among others. The market associations have been recommended to go through the policy and follow it.
NDMC has also designated a team to spot those who are not following the norms and submit the details. As per the policy, self-signage beyond 2.5 sq m. size (including LED, LCD screens) is not permissible.
The authority seems to be quite firm on its move as this has been directed by the High Court.
