OAA 2018 — Kinetic India wins ‘Campaign of the Year’ award for Google Maps campaign
Madison OOH win maximum metals (11), followed by The Social Steet (10) and Kinetic India (6); The Social Street and Kinetic India win maximum Golds (3 each)
The winners of the 14th Outdoor Advertising Awards (OAA) contest were announced at the OAA 2018 awards function held at Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel, Powai, Mumbai on July 28 evening in the presence of a large audience comprising global OOH CEOs, senior government officials, brand marketers, specialist agency heads and professionals, heads of media owning firms, and indeed young OOH professionals.
The 2018 awards show began with Vasant Jante, MD, VJ Media Works, in his presentation on the governing norms for the contest, stating that the number of entries received were 258, 33% higher than the previous year. 139 entries were shortlisted by the Jury for the awards (54%), and 56 entries were awarded.
The entries were adjudicated by a Jury comprising 31 leading brand marketers who met in four separate groups in Mumbai and Delhi NCR. Vasant mentioned that online judging will be introduced for the OAA 2019 contest, wherein the Jury will meet in person to adjudicate the shortlisted entries. Also, he mentioned that categories / sub-categories that received less than 10 entries this year will not be featured in OAA 2019 contest.
The entries considered for the OAA 2018 contest were of works executed in the period April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. A total of 56 metals were given away – 15 Gold, 16 Silver & 25 Bronze. Madison OOH won the highest number of metals with a tally of 11 metals (1 Gold, 2 Silver, 8 Bronze) while The Social Street won 10 metals (3 Gold, 1 Silver, 6 Bronze). Kinetic Advertising India won 6 metals (3 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze). Kinetic India and The Social Street won maximum Golds (3 each).

Brand Categories
There were no winners in the ‘Telecom’ sub-category.
In the ‘Financial Services’ sub-category, Madison OOH won the Silver for ‘Edelweiss – #BeUnlimited – Edelweiss Financial Services Limited, whereas The Social Street won the Bronze for ‘Aditya Birla Capital’. Gold was not awarded.
In the ‘Media & Entertainment’ sub-category, Madison OOH won the Silver for ‘One Strange Rock – National Geographic’, whereas The Social Street won the Bronze for ‘Billions – Hotstar’. Gold was not awarded.
The ‘Automotive’ sub-category saw 3 Bronze winners – Ignite Mudra for ‘Honda Cliq – Bade Kaam Ke Cliq – Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd’; Madison OOH for ‘Tata Nexon Level Nex – Tata Motors’; Posterscope for ‘Total Recall 2.0 – Total Quartz’. Gold & Silver were not awarded.
In the ‘FMCG’ sub-category, The Max won the Gold for ‘The Retired Typist – Allied Blenders and Distillers Pvt. Ltd’, whereas Rapport Outdoor Advertising won the Silver for ‘FAL URC — HUL – FAL’. Bronze was not awarded.
Laqshya Media Group won the Gold for ‘Daikin Air Conditioners Daikin’ in the ‘Consumer Durables’ sub-category. Silver & Bronze were not awarded.
In the ‘Retail Brands’ sub-category, Laqshya Media Group won the Silver for ‘Tanishq Padmavati Collection – Tanishq Jewellery’, whereas Madison OOH won the Bronze for ‘Time to get FIT with CultFit and EatFit — CureFit Healthcare Pvt. Ltd’. Gold was not awarded.
Tribes Communication won the Bronze for ‘The Saath:7 Cricket Mahotsav Wonder Cement’ in the ‘Real Estate & Construction’ sub-category. Gold & Silver were not awarded.
The ‘Clothing, Footwear & Accessories’ sub-category had 2 Bronze winners – Posterscope India for ‘Adidas Predator – 3D Realism – Adidas’ and The Social Street for ‘Myntra – End of Reason Sale – Myntra’.
In the ‘Others Categories’, 2 Golds were awarded — Kinetic India for ‘Google Maps : Look Before you leave – Google Maps’, and Madison OOH for ‘Zomato Much More Than Words – Zomato’. The Social Street won the Bronze for ‘Hotstar Tech – Hotstar’. Silver was not awarded.
Media Plan of the Year
The Social Street won the Gold for ‘Nimki Mukhiya – Star Bharat’ in the ‘Outdoor Media Plan of the Year – Local’ sub-category, whereas Ignite Mudra won the Silver for ‘Honda Cliq – Bade Kaam Ke Cliq – Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd’ and Madison OOH won the Bronze for ‘One Strange Rock – National Geographic’.
In the ‘Outdoor Media Plan of the Year – National’ sub-category, 2 Silvers were awarded — The Max for ‘Pepsi Thi Pi Gaya – Pepsico India Holdings Pvt Ltd’ and Kinetic India for ‘Google Maps : Look Before you leave – Google Maps’. The Social Street won the Bronze for ‘Star Bharat Channel launch – Star Bharat’. Gold was not awarded.
Special Categories
In the ‘Innovation of the Year’ sub-category, there were 2 Silvers — Rapport Outdoor Advertising for ‘#GoSafeOutside — HUL – Hamam’ and Kinetic India for ‘Google Maps : Leave before you leave – Google Maps. The Bronze went to Madison OOH for ‘One Strange Rock – National Geographic’. Gold was not awarded.
In the ‘Best Use of Ambient Media’ sub-category, The Social Street won the Gold for ‘Life Before Ashes – Mohan Foundation’. 2 Silvers were awarded – Madison OOH for ‘Raymond Metamorphosis Window – Raymond Technostretch’; and jointly to The Max and Times OOH for ‘The World’s First Shade Carousel Conveyor Belt — Kansai Nerolac.
Kinetic India won the Gold for ‘Vodafone Eco Pond : Good In Good Byes — Vodafone India Limited’ in the ‘Green Initiative’ sub-category, whereas 2 Bronzes were awarded – Madison OOH for ‘Tata Salt Har Pal Ujjwal Tata Salt’ and Kinetic India for ‘The Air Ink Billboard : First ever billboard painted with air pollution – Star Plus’. Silver was not awarded.
In the ‘Activation’ sub-category, The Social Street won the Silver for ‘A Pleasant Surprise – The Shoe Laundry’. 2 Bronzes were awarded – The Social Street for ‘Nimki Mukhiya – Star Bharat’ and Ignite Mudra for ‘One Plus – Global PVR Launch — Oplus Mobitch India Pvt. Ltd’. Gold was not awarded.

Media Owners’ Special Categories
In the ‘Best Format Innovation’ sub-category, Laqshya Media Group won the Gold for ‘AC Bus Stand at Delhi’, whereas Minimax & Madison OOH won the Silver for ‘One Strange Rock – National Geographic’ and Selvel & Madison OOH won the Bronze for ‘Lodha Green Billboard – Lodha’. As this is a media owners’ category, in the final tally, the metal wins under this sub-category have been attributed only to the media owners.
TIM Delhi Airport Advertisement Pvt Ltd won the Silver in the ‘Zonal Media Owner of the Year – North’ sub-category. Gold & Bronze were not awarded.
2 Golds were awarded in the ‘Zonal Media Owner of the Year – South’ sub-category – to Prakash Arts Pvt Ltd and Uni Ads. Silver & Bronze were not awarded.
Ajanta Advertisers won the Bronze in the ‘Zonal Media Owner of the Year – East’ sub-category. Gold & Silver were not awarded.
No awards were given in the ‘Zonal Media Owner of the Year – West’ sub-category
Vritti Solutions bagged the Gold in the the ‘Media Owner of the Year – National’ sub-category, whereas Atin Promotions & Advertising won the Bronze. Silver was not awarded.
Spectacular MMT won the Gold in the ‘Printer of the Year’ sub-category, whereas Pacific Digital won the Silver and Macro Media Digital Imaging Pvt. Ltd won the Bronze.
Public & Social Services
The Social Street won the Gold for ‘Life Before Ashes – Mohan Foundation’, whereas Madison OOH won 2 Bronzes – for ‘Tata Salt Har Pal Ujjwal – Tata Salt’ and ‘NACO Khul Ke Karo Baat – National AIDS Control Organization’.
Campaign of the Year
Kinetic India won the prestigious ‘Campaign of the Year’ award for Google Maps : Look Before you leave – Google Maps’. Unlike earlier years, the entries received in the Brand Categories were considered for adjudication of this award, and no specific entries were received for this category.
